Join the COP 30 Climate March in Sheffield on November 15th

This World is Ours: Resist. Reclaim. Rise up for system change!

On Saturday, 15th November, people across the world will take to the streets as part of a global day of climate action during COP30. Last week, scientists reported that the world has crossed its first irreversible climate tipping point: widespread coral dieback caused by rising temperatures. And yet, world leaders are still dragging their feet over climate action.

This year’s UN climate talks (COP30) in the climate-threatened Amazon in Brazil are a crucial moment. Fossil fuel lobbyists will doubtless be there in their thousands again, distracting and delaying. And while Brazilian president Lula Da Silva calls for bold global climate action, his government has just given the go ahead for oil drilling in the Amazon.

It is obvious we cannot wait for any government to push the climate fight forward – we have to unite and demand that they act.

We need to demand an economy that works for people and the planet. We will send a clear message that the solutions to the climate crisis and to inequality are the same: make the polluters and billionaires pay.

Our call will echo through streets on every corner of the earth: this world is ours!

The 5 Rivers Samba Fusion Band will be leading the march

In Britain, the Climate Justice Coalition is coordinating decentralised actions organised by local groups in towns and cities up and down the country, including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow and here in Sheffield.

Climate Justice Coalition,South Yorkshire are inviting all climate campaign groups, trade unionists, community groups, migrant groups and anti-racists – everyone – to join us on the Global Day of Action during COP30.

Saturday 15th November

Assemble: 11am @ Devonshire Green

A whole year of climate action:

In 2024, the TUC voted to back a Year of Trade Union Climate Action, engaging with community and climate justice groups. This has been backed by a large number of national unions. Sheffield Trade Union Council has also passed the motion and signed up to this. It will kick off this autumn, with a key moment of global solidarity in November (14th November Day of Action) during the UN climate negotiations, COP30, in Brazil. We want active support from as many local trade unions as possible – a really powerful year of action can only be built from the grassroots up.

Please forward this on to your local campaign and community groups, family and individuals and ask them to join us on the Global Day of Action
