Ray Cundy claims to be neutral in the Israel/Palestine conflict. But being neutral means that by default you support the status quo. Does he support the eviction of Palestinians from their homes in the West Bank? The destruction of the olive trees that have been cared for for generations? The arrest and imprisonment without trial of people and sometimes murder of those that stand up to the bullying of the settlers? More than 10,000 are now being held without trial. This includes many women and children. The West Bank is not controlled by Hamas, so these crimes have nothing to do with October 7th.
Does he support the continued operation of an Apartheid state in Israel and the blockade that denies people in Gaza food, water and medicine? Does he support Israel in bombing Lebanon?
The UK is not neutral. The UK is supporting Israel by repeating its propaganda, selling weaponry, positioning Royal Navy warships in the east Mediterranean and regularly flying RAF missions to Israel, the purpose of which is top secret. If we don’t speak out against this in our democracy then we are complicit in these actions.
Israel tragically lost 1200 lives on October 7th. But the Palestinians have lost over 17,500 since then.
Israel is bombing the southern part of Gaza, the area where they told 1.2 m people living in the north to evacuate to. No way is this self-defence, it is Genocide. It is everyone’s duty to speak out against it. That does not make you a supporter of Hamas. It makes you a supporter of humanity.
Banky wrote on Israel’s illegal separation wall that imprisons the Palestinians. “If we wash our hands of the conflict between the powerful and the powerless we side with the powerful- we don’t remain neutral.”
