March for the Children of Palestine this Saturday

The latest news from Gaza is horrific. Israel’s troops are moving in to “capture extensive territory”. All bakeries in Gaza – including 25 run by the World Food Programme – have shut down as Israel’s blockade on the Strip continues for a 31st day, the longest siege since the war began. The death toll continues to rise. Yet our Government continues to send arms to the genocidal Israeli Government. Please join the march this Saturday to show this is not in your name.

On Saturday 5th April
Assemble at 12 midday in Endcliffe Park
March for the Children of Palestine
March against genocide and ethnic cleansing

Saturday April 5th is International Day for Palestinian Children. On Tuesday 18th March, Israel broke the Gaza ceasefire with airstrikes killing over 400 people, including 183 children. So this Saturday people will march through the streets of Sheffield, starting from Endcliffe Park, to demand a meaningful ceasefire, an end to the genocide in Gaza and the West Bank, and stop to the slaughter of children – over 17,000 of whom have been killed in Gaza since October 2023.

Israel is expanding its ground invasion in northern Gaza, issuing sweeping forced displacement orders for many thousands of Palestinians, while continuing to rain down bombs on the population. This is genocide. (1/7) 🧵

War crime after war crime after war crime. When is Starmer going to stop supplying weapons to this genocidal Israeli government?

Background: Statement from Annie O’Gara, on behalf of the Sheffield Palestine Coalition Against Israeli Apartheid:

“This year, as in so many years before, we speak out against the attacks on Palestinian childhood itself by Israel, seen daily in the onslaughts in Gaza that kill, maim and terrorise youngsters, destroying their childhood and leaving both visible and invisible scars that will last a lifetime. “The statistics are grim: since October 7th 2023, over 17,000 children have been killed outright by Israel; and then there are the “silent deaths” – the injured, malnourished child who dies of wounds because of Israel’s denial of basic medicines to overstretched, bombed-out hospitals. Since Israel re-ignited the genocide in Gaza, 270 more children have been killed.  Thousands of children in Gaza have lost one or both parents, their anchors in life;  their schools have been destroyed and childhoods robbed. “In the West Bank, Israel is “applying the lessons” it has learnt in Gaza. This week, a 17-year-old boy died in Israeli custody, the first child to die in an Israeli jail, but not the first to see the walls of such prisons. Israel for decades, has incarcerated around 700 Palestinian children a year (Defence for Children International – Palestine DCIP), putting them through military courts (the only nation on earth to treat children like this), then subjecting them to cruel treatment, amounting to torture, in prison. “In the West Bank, 224 children have been killed since October 7th 2023.  From the refugee camps of the north of the West Bank, to the south Hebron Hills, the Jordan Valley, the old city of Jerusalem and the farming communities around Bethlehem – the story for children is the same – displacement, home demolitions, violent harassment by occupation forces and/or settlers.

I hope to see you all on Saturday.
