Israel is a Terror State

I’ve sent this letter to the Sheffield Star in response to Cyril Olsen, whose letter is below. There is plenty more that could have been said in response, so please write too. The address is letters@thestar.co.uk (word limit 300).

Israel is a terror state

Dear Editor

Cyril Olsen repeats the mantra that Hamas is a terrorist organisation, as so often laboured by the BBC (Star 6/5/25). That may be true but it is wrong to ignore the fact that Israel is a terror state. Not only have they blitz-bombed Gaza, destroying the Hospitals, Schools, Mosques, Churches, water supplies and houses, but they are starving the whole population, denying them food and drink for the last two months. If this is not ethnic cleansing and genocide, I don’t know what is. Cyril can dispute the figure of 50,000 Palestinian deaths but the true figure may be even higher as many bodies are still buried under the rubble. And Israel has not yet stopped the killing.

If that is not enough to label Israel a terror state, what of the incident (that received little press attention) of the bombing of the aid ship near Malta? The ship, called The Conscience, carrying humanitarian aid and supported by Greta Thunberg,  was bombed by drones and disabled while in international waters off Malta as it headed towards Gaza.

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition ship came under direct attack. Armed drones hit the front of the unarmed civilian vessel twice, causing a fire and a substantial breach in the hull. The strike targeted the boat’s generator early on Friday, leaving it without power and at risk of sinking. Images posted to social media by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition showed a fierce blaze onboard the ship and two explosions.

Israel has not accepted responsibility for this terrorist attack, but who else would do such a thing?

The UK must stop supporting Israel’s genocide by selling arms and doing reconnaissance flights over Gaza because they are a terror state. Israeli war criminals visiting the UK should be arrested, not treated as diplomats.

Yours sincerely

Graham Wroe

The Sheffield Star printed this letter on 12th May but edited out the part I have highlighted in bold.
