MP’s and delegates to the Regional Labour Party conference in Sheffield were met by a noisy protest as they arrived (all by car despite being so near the station!) at the Royal Victoria Hotel. Stewards handed delegates who were willing to talk to them, these leaflets.

The bridges over Park Square roundabout also made the message very clear!
George Monbiot has this week raised the important point that we should be considering how to defend ourselves against the USA.
In his article, George points out that America does not need to invade us. They are already here. And as Trump calls Zelinsky a dictator, while siding with the real dictator Putin, this is extremely worrying.
“Depending on whose definitions you accept, the US has either 11 or 13 military bases and listening stations in the UK. They include the misnamed RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk, actually a US air force base, from which it deploys F-35 jets; RAF Menwith Hill in North Yorkshire, in reality a US NSA base conducting military espionage and operational support; RAF Croughton, part-operated by the CIA, which allegedly used the base to spy on Angela Merkel among many others; and RAF Fylingdales, part of the US Space Surveillance Network. If the US now sides with Russia against the UK and Europe, these could just as well be Russian bases and listening stations.”
He also points out that many of our weapons systems are probably totally dependent on the US.
“Then we come to our weapon systems. Like everyone without security clearance, I can make no well-informed statement on the extent to which any of them, nuclear or conventional, are operationally independent of the US. But I know, to give just one example, that among the crucial components of our defence are F-35 stealth jets, designed and patented in the US. How stealthy they will turn out to be, when the US has the specs, the serial numbers and the software, is a question that needs an urgent answer.”
As Trump tries to achieve what Putin has been trying to do, pickpocketing Ukraine’s natural resources, we need to be concerned about where he will be looking next. It is not as if he is hiding his avarice for the raw materials of Greenland and the oil off Gaza. His bullying of President Zelinksy shows he has absolutely no skills in diplomacy and will do anything to “Make America Great Again”. He is a very dangerous man and it is most concerning to see our Prime Minister continue to be so pally with him.
