The freezing temperatures didn’t stop Sheffielders from coming out on Friday evening to vent their anger at Donald Trump’s proposal of ethnic cleansing in Gaza. Musheir El-Farra from the Palestine Solidarity Campaign said: “Trump and Netanyahu standing in the press conference and very arrogantly and very criminally saying we will move the people off the Gaza Strip, as if the people of the Gaza Strip, the Palestinians, have no routes there, have no memories, have no humanity, have no link to this area, have no right to decide where they should live and how they should live”.
Owen Jones said “It’s not just that the world’s most powerful man is making the ethnic cleansing of an entire people some sort of diktat. By calling the whole of Gaza a “demolition site”, he is acknowledging – by definition – that Israel has committed an abominable crime.”
But it is not just Trump and the Republicans that are the problem.
Our own Government continue to back Israel’s genocidal Government by providing them weapons and supporting them on the international stage. This support for Israel is also evident in our local politicians who butchered the recent Green Party proposal to divest from Israel.
