Friday’s important Defend Our Juries protest outside Southwark Crown Court calling for political prisoners to be released from jail got little press coverage. It is shameful that the media does not cover things like this, which is why this blog was set up in the first place. 320 people occupied the road outside Southwark Crown Court for 90 minutes, including a strong contingent from Sheffield, to protest the ongoing assault on democratic civil rights.
People come from diverse groups and movements, including Defend Our Juries, Just Stop Oil, Palestine Action, Extinction Rebellion and Greenpeace.
Silent protesters held 100 images of political prisoners, including Mohandas Gandhi, Emmeline Pankhurst, Nelson Mandela, Angela Davis and Julian Assange.
